FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Kearney Union Church Announces Centennial Celebration100 Years Of Service13 September 2005 -- The Kearney Union Church is making plans for it's up coming Centennial Celebration. With less than 18 months to go before the Church's 100th anniversary, plans are moving forward to make this a joyous event in Kearney's history. Trustee Lawrence Ernest; chairman of the centennial celebration, stated; " 18 months is not a long time, before you know it 18 months passes, and we don't want to be caught flat footed. We should have our final outline completed with in the next month and will start to put the pieces together shortly there after. There are many guests we wish to be involved in this event and we need to get these all coordinated. There is also the other local churches that I am sure will want to be involved on many different levels. I am very excited. Praise God for this wonderful opportunity" The Church is looking for volunteers that may be interested in helping with this event. There is a great need for persons with historical knowledge of the church and the surrounding community including clothing styles of the region in the early 1900's. In addition to the need for man power for running an event of this size. There is also a need for persons with or have access to any photographical record of the church. Anyone wishing to help is encouraged to contact the church with their specific abilities. Any donations to the church will be cared for but it is recommended that items such a photographs be copied before being donated. If there is an expense involved contact the Church before obligating yourself, we may be able to help. The high point of the Centennial Service will be the rededication to the churches corner stone. The stone was removed several years ago and revealed an astounding collection of documents from the first days of the church. There are plans to return those items along with a collection of item from the current church members and officers. Some of the most interesting items will be copies of the churches Web site and sermons on CD ROM along with other important documents. A full list will be posted later along with an opportunity to suggest items before the stone is sealed for another 100 years. More information to be forth coming as it is released.
